Our project aims to enhance the competencies of educators and adult trainers, equipping them with the necessary tools to effectively impart democratic values and civic engagement to young learners. Specifically, we seek to develop a comprehensive suite of educational resources that will foster a deep understanding of democracy among children and promote their active participation from an early age. These resources, including a teachers' manual, an adult trainers' guidebook, and a variety of engaging learning materials like lesson plans, videos, and interactive games, will be collaboratively designed by experts and refined through practical application in classrooms.
All the above will be based on two main ideas behind training educators and teachers on how to implement democracy in daily life of students. First - Janusz Korczak’s (PL educator) ideas that emphasized respect for children as individuals, valuing their opinions, and nurturing their autonomy. He believed in creating democratic environments in schools where children could participate in decision-making, such as through children's councils. By fostering responsibility and mutual respect, his methods teach children the foundations of democracy and civic engagement. Second - Philosophy for Children (P4C) which originated in the 1970s. The approach was inspired by the Socratic method of questioning and dialogue. It encourages kids to ask questions, think critically, and explore different perspectives. It also helps children develop reasoning skills by discussing ideas like fairness, friendship, etc. Through P4C, children learn how to listen to others, express their thoughts, and reflect on their own beliefs.
The expected outcomes of this project include the creation of scalable, adaptable educational tools that can be utilized across different educational settings to teach democratic principles effectively. We also anticipate a significant enhancement in the skills of educators, enabling them to better teach and promote civic responsibilities. Furthermore, our activities are designed to increase awareness and engagement among children regarding their roles in a democratic society, encouraging them to understand and participate in democratic processes from a young age. These goals and the anticipated results align with the priorities of the funding scheme. By enhancing educators’ competencies, a core aim of the ADU priority, we prepare them to foster environments where democratic values are taught and practiced. This approach supports the horizontal priority by embedding common values, civic engagement and participation into the foundational stages of education. Our project addresses not only the immediate educational needs but also aims to achieve a broader societal impact by nurturing informed, engaged, and responsible future citizens. This alignment ensures that our project is not only relevant to the priorities but also crucial for promoting a democratic ethos within educational framework.

Our approach to sharing and utilizing project outcomes will ensure that the materials, knowledge, and tools are widely disseminated and adopted, reaching our partners, local communities, the broader public. The focus is on maximizing the long-term impact and fostering a deeper understanding of democratic education within the adult education sector. A1: Project management
A2: LTTA to foster competencies and sharing best practices of adult learners, primarily teachers.
A3: Creation of comprehensive and age-appropriate educational resources, including a Teachers' Manual, an Adult Trainers' Guidebook, and various children’s resources like lesson plans, videos, and games.
A4: Dissemination activities like hands-on workshops and the final dissemination event, “Democracy for Children”.
